Qualifications and Experience

I hold a Bachelor of music with honours and a Master of Music Studies majoring in jazz voice. During my studies I have learnt about the physiology of the voice and about the craft of performance. I have studied under Brisbane voice and drama teacher Antonia Breen, Contemporary vocal expert Irene Bartlett, classical voice icon Margaret Nickson. I have also studied voice pedagogy with Adele Nisbet, at the Queensland Conservatorium.

In my teaching I also draw from my own experience as a professional singer and performer and my experiences throughout my own study of voice. I enjoy keeping up to date with the latest developments in voice teaching, voice technique and repertoire development, frequently attending voice workshops, seminars and Performances.

I am also a member of the Australian National Association of teachers of singing (ANATS).

Music Styles

I teach contemporary voice. This covers everything from pop to rock to jazz, country and musical theatre, as well as songwriting. When it comes to choosing what to sing, I prefer to cater to the individual and discover what they are interested in. Some students are interested in taking voice exams, some are gigging musicians who just need some extra pointers and help with voice technique and vocal health. Some students are absolute beginners. Every student is on their own journey, and I m happy to help each student to achieve whatever their goals may be!

I am also well equipped to teach music theory, musicianship and basic piano skills.

Locations:

Currently I teach from two locations: Seven Hills and Redland Bay.
